Listen up! Our first ever episode of the BRICKS Podcast launches this Friday – you even get a free BRICKS tote bag made from recycled fabrics when you sign up. What more could you ever need?

In this new weekly series, we’ll be inviting members of our community to discuss and dissect the challenges of what it means to be creative today, offering our tips and advice along the way.

For our first episode, we caught up with best friends, Bethany Grace and Tamara Turnbull of Glasgow-based, online concept store LUNCH.

BRICKS Founder Tori West met the duo over zoom to discuss the challenges of launching a new fashion store and creating new sustainable business modules. They also chatted about the importance of not feeling the pressure to live in London to make your own creative career and what it’s like to launch a business during these precarious times.

The Podcast is part of the BRICKS Learner’s platform, a member’s only site exploring affordable alternative education methods for as little as £2.50 per month.

“We recognise there’s a dire need for more accessible, alternative education methods. Further education is pricey and we believe everyone deserves access to meaningful, affordable resources and tools regardless of geographical, economical and physical limitations.” Says Tori.

“Currently, only 16% of the creative industry is made up of working-class and low-income people,” she continues. “By becoming a BRICKS paid member, not only will you receive exclusive content to help you navigate your own path within the creative industry, you will help keep our independent magazine, led by queer and working-class creators alive.”

All of the Learner Platform fees goes toward funding the ideas of our creatives from marginalised backgrounds for both online and print and is part of our mission of making BRICKS a reader-funded publication.

When you join, not only will you receive access to our exclusive BRICKS podcast, you’ll also receive weekly available grants, jobs and freelance roles, especially made helpful guides and resources.
