Three Next-Gen Artists Collab With Stella McCartney

Blending Stella McCartney’s signature designs with creative counter-culture aesthetics, the Stella McCartney 3 collection aims to bring a sustainable “conscience” into the fashion industry.

Earlier this year, eco-conscious brand Stella McCartney released its Autumn Winter 2021 RTW collection. Now – in celebration of the collection – the British fashion house has collaborated with three next-gen artists to launch a unisex new capsule.

Drawing inspiration from ‘Y for Youth’ from the McCartney A to Z Manifesto, the collection – titled Stella Shared 3 –  features work from South London-based artist and slow fashion designer Ed Curtis; artist and designer Myfawnwy from Queens, NY; and Antwerp-based graphic artist Tom Tosseyn. Each designer interpreted the project through their own unique lens.

“For my McCartney A to Z Manifesto, I shared my platform with next-gen artists who interpreted our values through their visions,” explained Stella McCartney. “Stella Shared 3 continues this spirit of collaboration today, remixing indisputably Stella pieces with prints by incredible talents of tomorrow – collectively advancing by sharing our respective skills, resources and communities.”

Blending neutrals with a counter-culture aesthetic, Curtis brings his organic optical prints to reversible puffer jackets paired with over-the-top voluminous trousers. The designer also subverts the iconic Stella McCartney logo in spray paint, alongside an assortment of clashing knitwear.

Artist and designer Myfawnwy incorporated her hand-marbled prints over painted suns and flowers in the collection, creating a series of silk sets including short-sleeved button-ups and baggy trackies co-ords, crew neck jumpers and boxer shorts. Her signature faces also beam across pale yellow hoodies and organic cotton jersey dresses and t-shirts.

On his designs, Tosseyn adds “restoring the peace” to the McCartney logo – sharing the brand’s sustainable values. Sharing inspiration from military design, the artist updates luxury pieces with parka bombers, denim sets, knitwear, and leisurewear with eco-friendly wordplay.

Using sustainable materials including organic cotton jersey and denim, recycled nylon, regenerated cashmere and traceable, responsible wool from regenerative farms – the capsule aims to bring a “conscience” to the fashion industry, paving the way for young artists to engage with sustainability in their designs.
