If you live online like the rest of us, chances are you’ve probably scrolled past, liked, or even tried to emulate a look styled by Lee Trigg. Having previously worked styling Tyla and Alewya to Lola Young and Sasha Keable, her sharp eye has shaped some of music’s most distinct aesthetics. At BRICKS, we’ve worked closely with Trigg, entrusting her vision for our Mowalola & Odunsi The Engine print cover, and later for our first-ever digital cover shoot in our studio with Beabadoobee back in 2021. Now, after more than a decade of amplifying other artists’ identities, Trigg is debuting her own.

Playfully described as “inactivewear”, her new independent label, TRIGG, launches with a bold first release: The T Tank. “As a stylist, I was creating so many custom looks with other designers, and eventually I started to collect ideas for some pieces I hadn’t really seen before so thought ‘this is the moment to create something that’s solely mine instead of mainly collaborative designs’,” Trigg explains.

As a stylist, I was creating so many custom looks with other designers, and eventually I started to collect ideas for some pieces I hadn’t really seen before so thought ‘this is the moment to create something that’s solely mine‘.

“I also love the idea of imperfections, so making them hand sprayed makes each tank unique,” she explains. “Not every one is the same and I like the idea of buyers owning something that’s only theirs, even if the differences are slight.”

Trigg’s aesthetic has been shaped by her love of originality, balances familiarity and comfort with reinvention: high-fashion mixed with thrifted gems, strong silhouettes cut with raw edges, and looks that always reflect the artist’s identity. That instinct has been sharpened through her partnerships with artists who push boundaries in their own right, from Mowalola’s avant-garde vision to Tyla’s hands-on, resourceful approach to style, cementing her as one of today’s most original style icons.

The T Tank is a playful rendition of a road sign that is used in a lot of countries. I like that people around the world could see it and maybe think of TRIGG.

For Trigg, the tank is just the beginning. “The tank is just my first little stamp for the brand,” she teases. “It’s a playful rendition of a road sign that is used in a lot of countries. I like that people around the world could see it and maybe think of TRIGG. I’ve always loved that sign since I moved to London because it wasn’t in Canada.”

Originally from Nanaimo, Vancouver Island, Trigg moved to London to carve out her career in fashion. She cut her teeth in the industry through assisting roles and editorial stints at titles including Tank and Garage, before finding her own path styling artists across both fashion and music.

Sharing her thoughts amid a brand launch and back-to-back shoots, Trigg is clear this is only the start of her vision. “I’ll have 2-3 more drops this year, including the sling dress which is one of my favourites.”

And for what comes next? She’s leaving room for the unknown. “All I know is I love creating through having my own brand, from the clothes to the shoots and creating content. It could go anywhere, so let’s see. I’m excited.”

The T Tank will be available from Tuesday 16th September at 3pm (UK time) exclusively at TRIGG WORLD
