In the wake of the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on the definition of sex under the Equality Act back in April – which threatens to restrict trans rights nationwide – visibility and representation have never been more urgent. Against this backdrop, multidisciplinary artist and BRICKS contributor Saskia Kovandzich, in collaboration with activist and creative Maxine Heron, have created an editorial calendar for 2026, featuring 12 iconic London-based trans creatives. This project is not merely a celebration; it is a deliberate act of resistance, a defiant affirmation of trans joy, resilience, and visibility at a time when both are under attack.
The calendar brings together a formidable collective of voices: Maxine Heron, Alejandra Muñoz, Elouiza, Liana Taylor-Cummings, Munya, Jaylin Ye, Sam Moir Smith, Danielle St James, Munroe Bergdorf, Theo Papoui, Mahlah, and Dakota Schiffer. Each lends their creativity and presence to the seasonally-themed project, designed to uplift, empower, and assert the humanity of trans people in the face of legal and societal erasure.

Proceeds from the calendar will support Good Law Project, a non-profit using the law to resist hate and defend LGBTQ+ rights, which is currently preparing to challenge the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC)’s interim guidance at the High Court on 12 November 2025. This legal action comes after a series of victories defending trans rights, including overturning bans on protest, winning damages from discriminatory organizations, and securing landmark rulings in gender recognition cases.
The initiative also shines a light on Not a Phase, a UK charity founded in 2020 that champions trans and gender-diverse adults through visibility campaigns, community events, and workplace training. Named Trans Charity of the Year at the 2023 Trans in the City Awards, the calendar’s mission aligns perfectly with the charity’s ethos: celebrating lives that society too often marginalizes while actively creating space for empowerment.
More than just a calendar, this project is a call for solidarity, and a celebration of trans creativity and joy – a reminder that even under legal threat, trans lives are visible, thriving, and unstoppable.
