I’ve always questioned where I stand in the fashion hierarchy as a make-up artist. Sometimes you can be made to feel like you’re ‘only’ a team member, and your creative vision is rarely celebrated even if it’s bold or ambitious. Staying at home due to the pandemic inspired me to visualise, create and shoot an editorial all by myself. It’s given me a new appreciation for everyone who works on set – who have good taste and knowledge of lighting, composition and post-production – but it was definitely creatively inspiring to work alone.
