080 Barcelona Fashion Week is Back, Here’s What To Expect

BRICKS editor Tori West shares her one’s to watch round-up ahead of its 38th edition

All aboard! Returning to Port Vell and Marina Vela for its 38th edition, 080 Barcelona Fashion continues to shine a spotlight on both emerging designers and established names working beyond the traditional fashion capitals.

Ahead of the shows, BRICKS rounds up its ones-to-watch list, including homegrown talent and international newcomers making their 080 runway debuts. Set your coordinates, because here are the designers putting Barcelona firmly on the fashion map.

O’Barret

Making its 080 Barcelona Fashion Week debut, O’Barret is the Milan-based independent fashion label founded by Spanish designer Alicia Jiménez Barreto. Her pieces often draw on her Andalusian and Colombian heritage, alongside personal memories and nostalgia. Her practice extends beyond garments into ceramics, sculpture and visual storytelling, challenging traditional ideas of age, gender and how fashion should be worn.

For SS27, O’Barret will present Soulstice, inspired by the cycles of human transformation. The collection explores themes of loss, healing and rebirth through sculptural structures and intricate hand-manipulated textures. Braiding and layering create second-skin effects, while wooden sculptures and body pieces reflect the passage of time and the experiences that shape our identities. Through the collection, Jiménez Barreto considers how clothing can both protect and liberate the body as we move through different stages of our lives.

404 Studio

BRICKS favourite 404 Studio returns to the 080 Barcelona Fashion schedule this season. The Valencia-born, Milan-based label founded by Anaïs Vauxcelles in 2018 is best known for combining crochet craftsmanship with contemporary art and cult cinema. Since its inception, the label has dressed some of fashion’s biggest it-girls, including PinkPantheress, Dua Lipa and Charli XCX.

For SS27, Vauxcelles will take inspiration from Satoshi Kon’s 2006 animated film Paprika, exploring the juxtapositions between dreams and reality, and the rigid societal expectations that come with growing up. The film’s contrast between its colourful dream sequences and more subdued reality translates into a wardrobe of vivid reds, electric blues and rich greens alongside muted earthy tones. Beyond the colour palette, the collection reflects on the designer’s own relationship with fashion, from the excitement and creative freedom of her early years to the pressures of working within the industry. SS27 reconnects her desires that made her fall in love with fashion in the first place and we can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve!

COMPTE SPAIN

Pack your bookmark, because COMPTE SPAIN is returning to the 080 runway this season. Founded by Spanish designer Santi Mozas, the prêt-à-couture label has long drawn inspiration from fairy tale storytelling. However, sometimes it’s not all whimsy, and SS27 takes a darker turn with LA BÊTE, a collection inspired by Jean Cocteau’s 1946 film La Belle et la Bête (Beauty and the Beast). Exploring the beauty of things we might otherwise consider strange or monstrous, Mozas plays with the contrast between romance and the rebellious. Expect dramatic shoulders, sculptural volumes, bows, floral prints paired with plenty of sparkle, sequins, sheer fabrics and crystal embellishments in a palette of pistachio, orange, blues and pinks. At its heart, LA BÊTE questions why we’re so quick to fear what we don’t understand, suggesting that beauty might be found in the very things we’re taught to find frightening.

Working between A Coruña and Valencia, COMPTE SPAIN has developed a signature style of theatrical silhouettes, exaggerated proportions and romantic details, with every piece produced locally using traditional techniques. With a predominantly made-to-order approach, the label is also committed to slowing down the fashion cycle, creating clothes designed to be kept rather than replaced.

BOLTAD

Another designer making his 080 Barcelona Fashion debut is Alberto Martín Pozo’s label BOLTAD. Founded in 2020, BOLTAD began as a creative way for Pozo to make sense of the world around him. Across five collections, the designer has developed a playful approach to mixing fabrics, clashing prints and often uses humour and irony to comment on the politics of everyday life.

For his Barcelona debut, Pozo presents Billy I El Hermoso, a collection exploring reincarnation and the idea that we carry different versions of ourselves throughout our lives. Rather than leaving our past identities behind, the designer mashed up a wardrobe where they all exist at once, bringing together layered garments and details that feel deliberately out of place. It’s a playful take on personal transformation, celebrating the idea that growing into someone new doesn’t necessarily mean saying goodbye to who you once were.
