Pregnancy Style Has Never Looked Hotter

Thanks to Rihanna and bestie Sita Abellan's celebrity style, maternity wear has never looked so fashionable.

Maternity wear is one of fashion’s most abandoned departments, often viewed as boring, basic, or designed with extreme simplicity to match its function. However, with celebs like Rihanna, model Sita Abellan, and Kylie Jenner showing off their pregnancy styles… are we facing the end of boring maternity wear as we know it?

The internet blew up when pop star and fashion icon, Rihanna, dropped news of her pregnancy with rapper A$AP Rocky. Since then – besides sporting numerous next-level street style looks around Los Angeles – the musician has graced the cover of Vogue in a special pregnancy shoot.

“When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, there’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle,” she said in the cover story. “I’m sorry, it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing.”

Rihanna arrived in Paris for the Dior fall 2022 show wearing sultry pieces from the French fashion house’s pre-fall 2022 collection, including a long leather coat and a black sheer lace slip. She finished the outfit off with a pair of pointed patent-leather heeled boots.
Rihanna wore a ribbed knit Alaïa set in a slate blue shade, including a halter crop top and maxi skirt. She accessorized with a blue camo version of Dior’s saddle bag, Adidas sneakers, and a blue cap.
For a night out at Giorgio Baldi, the singer wore a hot pink camisole minidress with aquamarine feathers on the trim and mint green pointed-toe heels. She also color-coordinated her accessories, matching her lip to the dress and her furry clutch to the feather trim.

She continued: “I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women.”

I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women.

So far, her own looks have included a dramatic Jean-Paul Gaultier lace-up jumper with low-waisted leggings and Jimmy Choo heels; a denim-on-denim look with a faux-fur jacket, crop top, and trucker hat; and a monogram Gucci by Tom Ford mini dress.

Meanwhile, model Sita Abellan showed off her own bump on social media in a mini matching Chet Lo set and a netted Fecal Matter bodysuit and second-time-mum, Kylie Jenner, posted a head-to-toe red Richard Quinn look.

Perhaps these looks are signalling the end of boring maternity wear as we know it, opening up the door for pregnant people to have more freedom and creativity over their fashion… TBH, we can only hope.
